You might also want to eliminate outdoor allergies as a culprit because some people think its their pets they are allergic to when they realize its what the animals bring in from outside.

It may not be the dogs you are actually allergic to.
It could be a product the owners use, for example, the shampoo.
If you are allergic to dogs, I doubt the allergy will go away. It could
actually get worse.

Yes you can develop an allergy to them, my mother did. And has 4 dogs and 3 cats in her home. U may grow out of the allergy but it would be a long time. I would suggest either not getting a dog or getting a dog that doesnt shed as much.

Dogs and cats are my worst allergies and I have two dogs, three cats. I have asthma as well. My symptoms have lessened over time. It takes me a few months to get used a new pet. We have air filters in every room, the dogs aren't allowed on the bed with us (though they do sleep with the kids), I wash my hands after I pet them and have to wear long sleeves to cuddle them (to avoid the hives). We went with a low shedding breed (pit bulls). I am fine around MY animals. When we visit our relatives that have pets, my allergies are bad. I have to take benedryl just to spend a few hours in their homes. I couldn't go over to my bestfriend's house while her cats were still alive because my allergies were so bad that I couldn't breath. If I can get used to dander living in the same house as my pets, anyone can.

It is possible, my friends son like you was never allegic but his dog ahs been staying with us for a few months as they are in an apart. looking for a house(long story) so now that he isnt seeing his dog as much when he does he has an allergy but when he had him he got used to the dog dander and it went away. So yes it is possible it will go away and you can always get good antihystamines if it does not

I would strongly suggest you get tested by an allergist before you get a dog. It sounds like you have a fairly sever allergy to something and if it is dog, you would have a miserable time living with one. Before you get a dog you have to rehome because it made you too sick, find out for sure what is causing the reactions.
Will you loose the allergy? probably not.

Depends if you have those allergies that go away or get worse with age-From the sound of it you happen to have the allergies that come on at an older age, which don't generally go away.
Many dogs are good for those people that have allergies, so you might want to look into the low shedding breeds such as the Shih Tzu or Bedlington Terrier. So i suggest youi go to the local animal shelter and interact with the adults for a couple of hours each-Puppies cause less allergies
Regardless you may still have the sneezing and itchy eyes.
I have occassionally allergies towards plants and other items, and they do go away after a period of exposure
