What kind of allergies? It is best to find the root cause of these allergies and treat the cause, rather than the symptoms. It would be a wise idea to consult with your veterinarian before giving your dog any medications.
Benadryl and generic benadryl is a safe, over the counter medication that is often used for allergies in dogs. My neighbor gives his elderly JTR benadryl for seasonal allergies, and for the same reason, my youngest dog is on a benadryl regimen by order of my vet. I buy generic benadryl because it is much cheaper than the name brand, it works just the same.
If your dog is suffering from what seems to be skin allergies all year round, flaky skin and itching, please be sure that you are feeding her a high quality diet. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.comhttp://www.dogaware.com

don’t ask in here, call your vet he will know, if someone says yes and you do, you might take the risk of killing your dog.

We give our dogs Benadryl all the time.
The vet even told us to. (Just call the vet office and ask how much you need to give them).
