Maltipoos are hypoallergenic, AND THEY”RE SOOO CUTE!
There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, but some breeds are far less likely to cause allergies. The following breeds might be suitable (its important to spend lots of time around puppies of these breeds, perhaps at the breeder where you plan to get the pup, to ensure they dont cause allergies, so you dont have to get rid of the dog):
basenji
bichon frise
chinese crested
poodle (all sizes)
portugese water dog
tibetan terrier
several terrier breeds including yorkies and border terriers.
Please note, “designer crossbreeds” such as the labradoodle (basically an overpriced mongrel) are NOT guaranteed to be hypoallergenic, as labs are heavy shedders and many labradoodles will be too.
Other pets you could consider include chinchillas, most rodents, reptiles, amphibians and fish.
A West Highland Terrier!
They have many benefits for people with allergies.
-They do not shed
-There very clean
-They also do not get any bugs on them that with make use sick.
Two Fancy Rats!
They also have many benefits for people with allergies.
-They clean, very
-They get very attached
-Not very hard to take care of
No such thing as a totally 100% hypo-allergenic dog. I would maybe see if you can find breeders that have poodles, bichon frise, shih tuzs….look up what dogs are good for allergic people, and then go to the breeders in your area. If you find that the dogs don’t bother you you found a good match. And one note on labradoodles they are not even close to 100% allergenic. Because their mixing (they’re just expensive mutts) is not down to a perfect “T”…some dogs do end up producing dander.
There is no such thing as a 100 % hypo-allergenic animal. Some are highly allergic to ferrets …some to most dogs…some to rabbits…some to cags…some to birds….
I knew someone allergic to all animals. IF you are totally 100% allergic to dogs, see if there is another animal you and your mother can be around (Small pet, reptile, bird, ect) that wont cause you allergies, and that you can both agree on and enjoy. Just make sure before you commit to purchasing a pet, that you know you’ll be able to handle allergies that can just magically crop up over a few months. It happend with my first cat. I was fine for months, then all of a sudden, he starts sleeping in my bed and BAM i cant breathe in the mornings.
Same thing with my first ferret. My boyfriend and I got her last april. Within two weeks I was sneezing when she was around me, I couldn’t breathe for weeks, my eyes ran. I think I eventually got used to it because it doesn’t bother me any more. It was me getting used to the oil and dander in their coats. (It does suck to have bad allergies around animals but I learned to just deal with mine with allergy meds to keep all my cats/dogs/small pets.)
Too many get animals that they know they’re allergic to then instead of dealing with allergy shots/meds, they give the animal away.
And get checked by your doctor FIRST to make sure you know what you are allergic to if you haven’t done so. Then you can build on getting a pet from there.
Good Luck
Good dogs for allergy sufferes would be a poodle, because they don’t produce dander, they are a hypoallergenic dog; this means that anything mixed with a poodle may work as well. (but all dogs are different so you should make sure any dog u choose doesn’t give your mom allergies.) My grandmas has a schnauzer (poodles are in their ancestry) and she is hypoallergenic as well.
I have a mini long haired doxie, they shed way less than shorthairs, and she only produces dander when she is really scared or nervous, but if you let the pup meet many strangers and expose them to tons of situations this should keep them from being too scared and producing dander. Also I bet a hairless chinese crested would work too.
Also, I am not necesarrily recommending this; BUT my mom is allergic to pets, mostly cats, but she still let us get cats and dogs, we have 2 of each, and while at first she was pretty allergic she built up a resistance to our pets. So maybe your mom can do that? But like I said I am not recommending it, I’m just saying it worked for us. Maybe you find a breed you want so have your mom be around the breed a lot, like everyday, or increase her exposure to the breed everyday. Maybe you foster one for while, that way if your mom can’t stand it then the dog still gets a good home.
You have lots of options. Maybe volunteer at the humane society with your mom so you guys can find the perfect breed, and at the same time rescue a dog in need.
i can’t remember what the name of the breed was…but my teacher had the same problem and she had a dog that didn’t have fur, it had hair. this is how she had a dog-but i can’t remember the breed! i remember it’s kind of shaggy, and u know those breeds that look like they have a mustache? it had one! and the color of it was like a honey brown. i remember it being a really nice dog and it’s hair was soooo soft! sorry i can’t tell u anymore than that
the bichon frise and toy poodles or pugs are less allergenic than other dogs. also turtles, birds, horses, or fish are appropriate for allergies
its the cats salivia that peope have problems with just get a cat don’t let the salivia get on ya
Turtles, hairless cats, fish… anything that can’t produce dander.
Yorkshire Terrier
i have one….
she gets sick fast, but now shes healthy as…..a healthy dog LOL:)
chinchillas are good they don’t have any dander.
