Anyone Have Ideas For A Person With Severe Allergies, On Where To Eat Out?

I have serious allergies to all seafood, all nuts, paprika, eggs, citrus, strawberries, blueberries and wheat. I have had the seafood and nuts allergy for a few years, but just yesterday i received all the others after spending a few days in the hospital for serious reactions. Any help with cooking and eating out at restaurants? I play college athletics and I have to be able to eat when we travel on days I can’t pack food. Any help at all would be much appreciated! Thank you!
I am sorry to hear about all o fyour allergies…I am allergic to eggs, nuts, and peanuts so I know how hard it can be.
Some restaurants have ingredient or allergen information on their websites that can be extremely helpful. When you go on trips you should try to plan ahead if you know what kind of places you will be dining at. Here are some links for a few popular restaurants…http://www.unos.com/kiosk/nutritionUnos.… On the Uno’s website you can click on specific items and get detailed information as to what is in it.http://www.macaronigrill.com/Menu/Locati… At the bottom of this page there is a link entitled “Allergen Information” and will give you items that are free of common allergens such as eggs, peanuts, shellfish and more on the macaroni grill menuhttp://subway.com/subwayroot/MenuNutriti… Ingredients in subway’s itemshttp://www.pizzahut.com/files/pdf/UPDATE… Allergen information for pizza hut
As far as some other tips:
BE SURE to let the waiter/waitress (or even the manager of the restaurant) know about your allergy so they can be aware of the situation and let the cooks know in the back
Stay away from things that could be easily cross contaminated with foods that you are allergic to
Also be sure that everyone on your team (or whoever you are traveling with) knows about your allergy.
If possible make plans to go to places that you think will be ok for you.
Take advantage of any opportunity to cook for yourself or pack something…but I know that can be difficult.
GOOD LUCK!
