The lady that I work for has had the same cat for 9 years, and has never had a problem with pet allergies. Now she is complaining of allergy like symptoms whenever the cat is arround. Can a person just develope an allergy to cats?

yes, my husband has eaten corn all his life time , & now he’s allergic to it.
he just stays away from it.
she might get tested & get on allergy shots. & get on allegra. or some medicine..for it.
she needs to keep the cat well groomed, th e shed ender really helps, & they usually lilke to be brushed, & we use a lint roller on ours to get dust off em all th e time.

If you put a flea collar on it or used a flea treatment. yes
also if this cat goes outside i can bring in allergens on its fur.
wash the cat good with a hypoalergenic shampoo

As I can recall my cousin does not have allergic reaction to food but in antibiotics he does but when he turn to age of 20 he started to have allergic reactions to certain food like shrimps and sea shells so i don’t know about the lady but he maybe like my cousin so who knows maybe in age you sometimes develop allergies

Yes, I think it’s actually not too uncommon. I’ve had cats my whole life and just recently have started getting minor allergy-like symptoms too.

Yes, it is very possible to develop allergies to cats even if you never had any in the past. Why, I don’t know but it’s definitely possible.
