You can develop an allergy to anything at anytime. This is why hairdressers and beauticians do patch tests even if you have had one before, because you could develop and allergy at anytime.

Yes, I developed an allergy a few years ago after eating crayfish and prawns, was very sick and went unconcious, Doc diagnosed shellfish allergy and I will never eat it again. He told me that my body had slowly been poisioned over the years by eating shellfish. So it’s off the menu for good.

i don’t see why prawns unless the were either contaminated or off,
allergies can happen for no reason but normally to colourings or peanuts etc.

  4. Canute says:

Allergies do not usually manifest themselves on first exposure.

Yup, my sister-in-law developed an allergy to shellfish when she was almost 40. She’d eaten it all her life & then wham, one day she was allergic. Weird huh?

My nephew 13 year old developed serious breathing complications after eating home prepared fried prawns. Doctor have administered Adrenaline injection and was in ICU for two days. Doctor told us this is serious allergic reaction and best to avoid fish, prawns, mutton etc as he might have allergy related to animal protein. ( He has eaten prawns for the first time. But ate fish and mutton regularly) .
