How Come Allergy Medicines Don’t Really Work For Me Anymore?

I have had to take allergy medicine my whole life. I cannot seem to find a non-drowsy allergy medcine that works for me. I am allergic to animals with fur, and I not really sure what else I am allergic to. I just know it gets really bad. Claritin doesn’t work for me, because I used it for five years when I was in elementary school. I have a pretty strong immune system, so is my body becoming immune?
My sisters Fiance had the same problem.
he went to his dr. and explained that none of it was working and now he gets an allergy shot and it works really well he gets them and so does his brother. and when they come to my house ihave two dogs a black lab and a teacup poodle and they dont sneeze or anything
so maybe you shoul talk to your dr. and get an allergy test and then maybe talk to him and explain that ur allergy medcine isnt really helping.
i mean i guess if ur not comfortable getting shots u can try getting diff. medcine
i have allergies caused by my asthma and i take Flonase and Loratidine and i can be around my dogs n stuff but diff. meds work for diff. people Zyrtec works.
but if u dont have a prob. with shots maybe try getting that
You get one shot a week and it lasts the whole week. so i hope things get better for you.
btw a lot of people i know say Claritin doesnt work very well so try a diff. med. and if it dont work try to get ur dr. to give u the shot once a week
if you can get some allergy tests done to find out exactly what you are allergic to , you can then 1. avoid that food, thing or animal, secondly there are drops that you can take for these allergies to help with the symptoms. lastly teldane is a really good non drowsy formula for people with allergies hope this helps good luck
Your body may be immune to the meds now, or you have new allergies. I’ve tried all the OTC meds and they don’t help me. Clariton doesn’t work for me either. I am allergic to cats, although I won’t give mine up, grass, dust, and its no fun. I’m in the process of finding a prescription that works. Try going to your family dr or an allergist and good luck.
It may be time to visit your Dr. First try to get an allergy test, that may let you know exactly what your allergic to. then talk to your Dr, depending on that he or she may give you stronger medications for those allergies..
Get Better!
Take care..

I know this is a bit off, but funny poodles are mentioned… Poodles supposedly are good for people with allergies because their hair is more like a humans
