Is It Safe For Someone With A Nickel Allergy To Get A Tattoo?

I have recently been thinking about getting one, but I have a nickel allergy, and I was wondering if there was anything in it that would cause a reaction? Also, are the earrings that are for sensitive ears really work? Would it be a bad Idea to get my ears pierced again?

I used to work in a store that sold earrings and stuff, and we had a ton of nickel-free stuff. So that shouldn’t be a problem. You can even have them pierce with a special stud. The only issue with tattooing is if the needle is made of nickel. I’ve never heard of this, but just double check with the tattoo artist and ask what the needle is made of.

I can only wear sterling silver or gold earrings as well. The nickel free earrings seem to be okay, too. I think you’d be fine getting your ears pierced again.
In terms of getting a tattoo, you might be allergic to other metals that are used in making the colored ink. I got a tattoo in which the black parts turned out fine, but I had a bad allergic reaction to the cinnabar in the red dye. Therefore, you might want to stick to black ink, or get a patch test at the tattoo shop before you proceed with the real thing.

My mom is allergic to nickel too. She got a tattoo a few years ago and didn’t have any kind of reaction to it. Your best bet for earrings would be solid gold, although they are more expensive. You’re probably okay with the sensitive ears ones.

My guy has piercings and tattoos along with a severe nickel allergy, so it’s definately possible. I don’t know what kind of metal is in the tattoo needles, but the artist should know. As for the piercings, he wears acrylic, silver, titanium, and I think stainless steel.
