I can’t use hormonal birth control & the only IUD without hormones is made of Copper. Is that safe if I have a nickel allergy?

Copper and nickel are two different elements, I don’t think you should have a problem, but ask your doctor if you are unsure.

Yes, it is safe. The copper IUD does not contain any nickel.
Copper allergy may be slighly more common among women allergic to nickel, but it is still very rare.
A form of contraception that IS contraindicated (unsafe) for women with copper allergy would be the transcervical tubal ligation with the Essure method.

I have a Nova T IUD. It’s a plastic T (with barium to show on x rays) wrapped with a copper wire with a silver core. No nickel at all in mine.
I imagine other makes would be the same, ask your doctor before getting it.
