Is It Safe To Take One Benadryl A Day For Allergies?

I am 20 years old and take about one Benadryl a day for allergies, rarely two. My mom was telling me it can cause heart problems and damages the kidneys/liver and raises blood pressure. Would one pill a day really have this affect or is she just being overly protective?

benadryl is one of the safest drugs around.
It does not raise blood pressure (be certain you do not have a product with a decongestant mixed with it, that does raise blood pressure). It does not harm the liver or kidney. Tylenol like products when used at maximal doses might be the drug your mother is thinking about.
There are alot of drugs that should not be on the market, but the very best and safest, that should be kept if we had to get rid of all but one would be benadryl.

taking 1 a day is absolutlely fine. I take a different antihistamine daily and have been doing so for around 5 years, im allergic to allsorts of things so i have to.
Taking two however is more than the reccomended dose and if done frequently for a sustained period will probably cause you some problems.
there will be an info leaflet in the box your medication comes in, it tells you all about any possible side effects and overdoses.
have a read it should tell you if what your mother said is the truth.
