My dog is suffering from skin allergies. Do you know of any skin treatments I can do for my dog. I am financailly hurting and vets want there money up front. I am unable to take my dog to the vets at this time. Thank You.
What brand of food are you feeding your dog? Most skin allergies are actually attributed to what the dog is eating, rather than outside influences.
I highly suggest trying California Natural. I just switched to this food about a month ago, and I am so PLEASED with the results I have gotten from all of my dogs. It is a specialty food, which cannot be bought at commercial stores IE Petsmart.
Don’t worry about the cost of food. I can feed two dogs on this food for about $30.00 a month. The dog food has NO fillers in it, so the dogs eat a ton less food to satisfy their daily caloric intake.
Also adding some omega 3 (fish oil capsule, broken open and poured on food) can help make a coat shiney.
Your dog really needs to go the vet to get checked out – there’s no way to know what specifically is causing the allergies or what would help. Some places will set up payment plans for you if you let them know the situation in advance and you could also look into Care Credit. It’s not fair that the dog suffer because you can’t afford to take care of him.
Regardless of whether the allergies are airborne or food related you can try giving your dog an antihistamine (benedryl or generic brand). Also a cool bath with oatmeal shampoo helps. I have a dog with airborne allergies and this is a bad fall, the spring was bad too. My vet gave me a corticosteroid spray which helps too. Good Luck.
I can’t tell you any herbs but I can tell you what a doggy first aid kit has to have. Here is a list: 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, activated charcoal, antibacterial ointment, antibiotic ointment, Benadryl, blunt-tipped scissors, cotton balls and swabs, ear-cleaning solution, gauze(roll and squares), gauze tape, kaopectate, muzzle(long strip of cloth, nail clippers, needle nose pliers, oral syringe, pepto-bismol(which is actually good for dogs), rectal thermometer, saline eyewash, syptic powder, and tweezers. The list does not have any descriptions, but hope I helped!:)
try lamb and rice dog food formulas 4 one week. i recommend Nutro. its formulated 4 dogs w/skin allergies. these r most often caused by corn. more common causes are wheat and soy. pollen also causes this but u need steroids 4 that. so maybe try the lamb and rice 4 like a week, maybe a week and a half. and if it works, hey, uve diagnosed her/him w/corn allergies! =) if not, ur gonna need some omega-3-rich foods. something thats got lots of oils in it. altho, thats 4 dry skin, remember. allergies are often misleading. they often are mistaked 4 dry skin or fleas. fleas r visible. so ud know if he/she had them. hopefully u beat out this terrible tickler of our doggies!!
Ya I know what you feel like.

Tea tree oil can help soothe his skin, but he needs to get to the vet to get a proper diagnosis.
