What Can I Put On My Belt Buckles And Buttons Because Of A Nickel Metal Allergy?

I have a nickel metal allergy. Most of my belt buckles and jean buttons seem to be some sort of metal irritant. I may also be allergic to other types of metal. Gold, steel, silver and titanium are fine, but I know Nickel is not my friend. Is there anything I can put on the metal so that it can touch my skin without causing irritation?
The only solution that is cheap is clear nail polish.
Do it one layer at a time-let it dry completely, then another layer-and build it up. Most likely every time you wash the clothes it may start to come off but that’s about all you can do. On your jeans, and shirts-you can cut small circles of cloth and sew them to cover the ‘back’ of the button where it would be touching you. This won’t show at all when you are wearing the clothes, and would be permanent.
In a hurry-get some cloth adhesive ‘surgical tape’-it’s made for holding quaze, pads, etc. for days and the GOOD brands will stick to cloth-so you could use small pieces to cover the button backs for a day while you wear them-until you have a chance to sew on permanent covers.
I had a similar problem unless not related with an allergy. One of my jeans’ button was staining my shirts. My mother stitched a square of jean over it, just a stitch point on every corner to keep it in place.
Here in Argentina, we have belt buckles that are metallic but covered in leather. I’m sure you can find something like that where you are.
Try putting clear nail polish on the belt buckles & buttons. It’ll coat them & make them less of a problem for you.
I use thos little circle bandaid on my jean buttons and as for belt buckles I bought this stuff call mole skin and cut it to size. It can be bought in the foot care area of a pharmacy or at some stores like Wal Mart. It has an adhesive on one side so it stays on for a long time
Try clear nail polish. It will not show and it will give you just enough protection.
nail polish i do it to fake earrings and stuff and i dont get a reaction try and c if it works for u
The nail polish would work, but I don’t suggest using on earrings as the nail polish itself is a plastic and can also irritate your ears as well. Why not use non-metal buttons (like plastic & cloth)? If you have to wear a metal belt buckle, make sure it’s on the pants or some fabric worn, not against your skin.
I feel weird not saying Nail Polish lol
Seriously though, try going to a Piercing Studio, not the little stand at the Mall that does Ear Rings, I mean the Professional Shop. Many of them stock Nickel-Free Metal Items, and can special-order Items for you.
There are Nickel-Free Pop-Rivets and Buttons available on the Net, but you need to be a bit crafty to replace the Rivets on Jeans.
Good Luck
