Where Do You Go To Get Tested For Allergies? And How Long Does It Last? How Much Does It Cost?

Whenever I clean a dusty room, or moldy clothes; I can’t stop sneezing and have ichy, watery eyes. If they get to bad then I have to use my inhaler. But the inhaler was only prescribed because I had brochitis and coudln’t breathe well. Do I have allergies or is this common??

go to an allergist for testing. insurance will/should pay for it. if no insurance, try your local health department. might try taking claritin which is now OTC in the interim. if you need to use an inhaler, you may may have asthma. whatever the cost, this is worth it as it could mean saving your life! allergies to dust and mold are very common, but this extreme reaction, which is also sorta common, needs medical diagnosis and treatment. take care of yourself!

dust and mold r very common allergens even for people without alergies…. clean more often so the dust doesn’t get too bad, and take steps to keep the clothes from molding…. don’t bother spending the money to have a doc tell you that you r allergic to these things cause you already know.

You can get tested at the doctor for any allergens. he can also give you a shot that lasts for a week i think.

either at a hospital or clinic, they have you lie on a table and they poke about 30-40 small pins in your back for just a second then wait about 1/2 an hour then see which spots reacted to the allergen. it does itch like crazy but at least you know what you are allergic to.

go to an allergist. if your health insurance doesnt allow you to go to to an allergist without a referral from a general doctor, go to your primary doctor and ask for a referral. testing is a bit on the expensive side, but if you are referred to an allergist, then insurance will typically pay for it. insurances differ however, in whether or not they will pay for any allergy shots, so i would contact your insurance first to see what is covered.

Your primary doctor can refer you to an allergist. Just ask him/her.
