I used to love cats until I was badly scratched by some when I was around 5 years old. Soon after I started having bad allergic reactions to cats which only worsened until I couldn’t even breathe when there was a cat in the room. Just wondering what led to my allergy?

The only time I get a rash is when I have clothing on that has been washed with scented laundry detergent or fabric softener. This is a RECENT occurrence, and I’m just curious to know whether or not it’s possible that I could have developed a new allergy. Thanks!
